Calling I-House Home: New Resident Orientation Retreats - Held at Marin County's Walker Creek Ranch, these two-day retreats are designed to welcome residents into I-House's unique global community through cultural exchange, group activities and intercultural skill-building. Previous residents have voted the New Resident Orientation Retreat the most effective and fun way to meet fellow residents and make new friends, all while enjoying the great outdoors! Registration fee of $45 includes all transportation, overnight lodging and meals. Still not convinced? Check out this brief resident video and photos from past retreats!

You will recieve a pre-retreat packing and prep email the week of the retreat, so please check your inbox. The orientation retreats are open to new residents and a limited number of returning residents.

If the retreat is full visit the Program Office if you would like to be placed on a waitlist!

Day 1 - Break Out of Your Comfort Zone

11:30 am Check in at I-House front steps to verify your reservation and board bus with all of your belongings.

1:30 pm Arrive at Walker Creek (about 70 minute bus ride, depending on traffic)

2:00 pm Low Ropes Course/Team Building with Walker Creek Naturalists

4:30 pm Intro Activity Session with CIL and Program Office Staff

6:00 pm Dinner catered by Walker Creek

7:00 pm Activity Session with CIL and Program Office Staff

9:00 pm Bonfire Party with Snacks & Hot Cocoa/Free Time


Day 2 - Take the Learning Back to I-House

8:00 am Breakfast catered by Walker Creek

9:00 am Hike/nature tour with Walker Creek Naturalists

10:30 am Closing Activity Session with CIL and Program Office Staff

12:00 pm Lunch catered by Walker Creek

2:30 pm Pack up bus and leave retreat site for tour of Point Reyes and beach

6:30 pm Arrive at I-House for dinner.

We ask for your patience and understanding if we have to adjust our retreat schedule to accommodate for weather.

Food: Day 1 dinner, day 2 breakfast and lunch are included and catered by Walker Creek Ranch with vegan and vegetarian options. There will be plentiful snacks available throughout the day and on the bus rides. When you register, please indicate any food allergies or restrictions.

Sleeping Arrangements: Accommodations are in cabins that sleep 5-10 people. There will be cabins designated for men and women as well as a gender inclusive cabin. Blankets, pillows, and sheets are included.
